Grade Status
Mercer University uses a standard letter grading system with plus and minus modifiers. Here's a breakdown of the key policies:
Grading Scale
The standard grading scale is:
- A: 90-100%
- B+: 87-89.99%
- B: 80-86.99%
- C+: 77-79.99%
- C: 70-76.99%
- D: 60-69.99%
- F: 0-59.99%
GPA Calculation
Each letter grade corresponds to a specific number of quality points:
- A: 4.0 quality points
- B+: 3.5 quality points
- B: 3.0 quality points
- C+: 2.5 quality points
- C: 2.0 quality points
- D: 1.0 quality points
- F: 0.0 quality points
Your GPA is calculated by multiplying the quality points for each course by the number of credit hours, adding these values together, and then dividing by the total number of credit hours.
Course Withdrawals
If you withdraw from a course before the withdrawal deadline, you'll receive a "W" on your transcript, which doesn't affect your GPA.
Course Repeats
If you repeat a course, both grades appear on your transcript, but only the most recent grade is used in GPA calculations.
Incomplete Grades
An "I" (Incomplete) grade doesn't affect your GPA until it's replaced with a letter grade or converts to an "F" after the deadline.
