SAT Test Structure (2023-2024)
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. It assesses a student's readiness for college and provides colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants.
The SAT consists of two main sections:
- Math Section (58 questions) - Includes both No Calculator (20 questions) and Calculator allowed (38 questions) subsections
- Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (52 questions) - Tests reading comprehension, grammar, and writing skills
Each section is scored on a scale of 200-800, and the total score is the sum of the two section scores, ranging from 400-1600.
Digital SAT (Starting 2023-2024)
The College Board has transitioned to a digital, adaptive format for the SAT. Key changes include:
- Shorter test duration (about 2 hours instead of 3)
- Adaptive testing that adjusts question difficulty based on performance
- Shorter reading passages with one question each
