About Roger Grading
Understanding the Roger grading system and policies

The Roger Grading System

Roger uses a standard letter grading system with plus and minus modifiers. Grades are typically assigned on a percentage basis, with 90-100% earning an A range, 80-89% a B range, and so on. The specific cutoffs may vary slightly by instructor or department.

Each letter grade corresponds to a specific GPA value, with A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, and F = 0.0. Plus grades add 0.3 points (except A+), and minus grades subtract 0.3 points.

Grade Calculation Methods

Most Roger courses use a weighted category system for grade calculation. Common categories include exams, quizzes, homework, projects, participation, and lab work. Each category is assigned a percentage of the final grade.

For example, a science course might weight exams at 40%, lab work at 25%, homework at 20%, quizzes at 10%, and participation at 5%. Your performance in each category is calculated separately, then combined according to these weights to determine your final grade.

Academic Standing

To remain in good academic standing at Roger, students must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Falling below this threshold may result in academic probation or, in severe cases, academic dismissal.

Students on academic probation may face restrictions on course load and extracurricular activities. Support services are available to help improve academic performance and return to good standing.

Grade Appeals and Changes

If you believe a grade was assigned incorrectly, Roger has a formal grade appeal process. This typically begins with discussing your concerns with the instructor, followed by department chair review if necessary, and finally an academic appeals committee if the issue remains unresolved.

Grade appeals must be initiated within 30 calendar days of the grade being posted. After this period, grades are considered final except in extraordinary circumstances.
